On your way from Germany to France, stop in Luxembourg, a small country nestled in between the two. Spend a few hours exploring the capital, Luxembourg City before continuing on your adventure. Strasbourg, France Medieval Charm
A perfect mix of German and French influences, this medieval town is overflowing with Alsatian charm. Defined as a “city-state,” San Marino is technically a small independent body within Italy. It is the world’s fifth-smallest country. Historically, Italy was made up of tiny independent republics, including the likes of Venice and Genoa, which all eventually unified – besides San Marino. Dating to 301 AD, San Marino is the world’s oldest surviving sovereign state.
