Italy is one of the world’s top honeymoon destinations and is definitely the land of romance and amore. From romantic small towns to historic monuments and exciting cities, we have the list that any newlywed couple dreaming of a perfect honeymoon needs – Let’s go!
Rome – Rome is a spectacular masterpiece. Historic, iconic, monumental, Rome is a mix of culture and art, romance and food and most important – the dolce vita lifestyle. Stroll around the beautiful cobbled streets, make a wish at Trevi Fountain, visit the Vatican and the pantheon, or just walk around, eat some freshly made pasta, drink a glass of red wine and enjoy this timeless, magnificent city.
Venice – Venice is pure magic. No cars, no roads, just canals and gondolas, breathtaking palaces and a dream like ambiance. Take a romantic glide down the Grand Canal in a gondola, while the gondolier serenades you and your sweetie. Visit the unforgettable Basilica di San Marco, or get lost in the maze like alleys.
Florence – Vibrant, exciting and lively, Florence is a renaissance center, full of art and history. The city shines in a golden light and is home to some of the world’s greatest art creations. Stand on Ponte Vecchio (the old bridge) and watch the sunset over Firenze, visit the marvelous Duomo or marvel at Michelangelo’s David, the legendary renaissance sculpture.
Cinque Terre– The scenic coastline of these five little villages is one of the world’s most popular honeymoon destinations. The local vineyards, the sunset ferry rides, the locks of love with lovers’ initials on them, everything screams “Amore.” These five sea side villages cling to the cliff, submerged in wine grapes, boasting vivid colored houses. Take a wine tasting tour, watch the sunset over the coastline or just stroll through the little cobbled streets. You are guaranteed to fall in love all over again.
Siena – Italy’s loveliest medieval city, set in Tuscany. Siena holds a special charm while mixing history with modernity. Visit the beautiful Piazza Il Campo, buy some delicious fresh bread and wine at one of the small local shops. Climb up the 500 steps leading to the head of Torre del Mangia tower, where you will be rewarded with a breathtaking view of Siena and its surroundings.
Verona – The city was home to the most romantic couple in history – Romeo & Juliet and is the epitome of romance. Stop by the town’s most famous square, the Piazza delle Erbe, visit Juliet’s house (spurious Casa di Giulietta) and see her beloved balcony or sip espresso at a café at piazza dei Signori.
Amalfi Coast – Suspended between picturesque mountains and crystal blue sea, the Amalfi Coast is a stunning and naturally beautiful coastline that offers romantic and breathtaking views. 13 towns are scattered along this magnificent coastline, each with a different flavor, but all romantic and charming nonetheless.
In the Amalfi Coast Check out –
Positano– steep houses tumbling down to the sea, sunny beaches and pebble beachfront. As the setting for many romantic movies, Positano is a vision at sunset, as it paints the city in amazing peach, pink and terracotta colors.
Capri – This magical little island is glamourous as it is elegant. It boasts breathtaking landscapes, deep blue waters and chic cafes in pretty piazzas.
Sorrento – This sea side beauty has spectacular views over the Bay of Naples, and maintains an authentic vibe while oozing romance. Taste some limoncello and enjoy the sunset at Villa Comunale park.
Como – The city of Como is located on the lake’s southwestern tip and looks like a picture perfect honeymoon destination. Lake Como is renowned for its lavish reputation (hey, George Clooney lives here!). With a view to the glistening lake and the stone-paved streets leading up to the impressive Como Cathedral, Como is a perfect honeymoon (and glam!) honeymoon destination.
